Located in Kansas City, Missouri, the museum and its Liberty Memorial Tower were completed and opened to the public on November 11, 1926, eight years after the end of the war.

In spring of 2000 restoration work began on the tower and decking, as well as new construction for the museum and memorial hall. All was completed and re-opened to the public in May 2002.
